Would you really walk a mile in HIS shoes???

dirty-shoes.jpgToday while at work, one of my customers asked me how things were going. I told her about this blog, and all about my husband and the dirty laundry. She laughed and continued to tell me about her husband and the “joy” she recently had with him. We’ll call her Carol.

Carol’s husband has a TON of old dirty shoes in the closet, yet the other day when he went on his fishing trip, what pair did he wear but his good, new shoes.

He traditionally fishes in a boat and steps into the mucky, fishy water to push off. So when he came home, he kicked off his nice shoes that were now mucky and had a fishy smell; better yet, he kicked them off in the kitchen of all places. Carol asked, “Why didn’t you wear your old shoes instead of ruining your good ones?” His completely serious response, “I didn’t ruin my shoes, it’s just like washing them.”

It took Carol a lot of work and bleach to get that look and smell out of those shoes, and of course he just didn’t get it. It makes me wonder if that was washing the shoes, what else and how do men clean?

I remember after our first year of marriage, we moved from our first apartment to the upstairs of a new duplex. While organizing and tossing old things I threw out a pair of old sneakers that looked like some toxic chemical goo was dumped over them. I tossed them since my husband had an extra pair of old sneakers that he just replaced and he was using them for backup.

Guess who found those shoes in the trash. Didn’t he pull them out and put them someplace? I’ve been married almost 19 years and I know he has those stupid shoes somewhere in the house or garage.

I know exactly what you mean! My husband has this dirty old banana chair that he likes to watch movies and play video games in. I’ve offered to get him a new one, tried to redo it, everything I could think of. Finally I banned it from the front room because it is so ugly. It doesn’t match anything, and besides, I made him his very own special room he could sit in it and play games.
Every day I go to work, I come home and smack dab in the center of the living room what is there? This nasty chair. I hope he’s as attached to me as his chair!
